  • TiAuto (Pty) Ltd enters a joint venture with Badger Holdings (Pty) Ltd to bring Xpress Credit in-house
  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 80 stores

2012

  • TiAuto secures exclusive distribution rights for the complete ATLASBX Battery range

2010

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 74 stores
  • TiAuto secures the Unigrip and Gripmax range of passenger, 4x4 and light truck tyres for South Africa

2009

  • TiAuto (Pty) Ltd is appointed South African distributor for “Hankook” (Korea) passenger, 4x4 and LDV tyres

2008

  • Tiger Automotive Limited delisted via take-private by Ethos Private Equity and management and “TiAuto (Pty) Ltd” established
  • TiAuto Real Estate division is established to manage owned and leased properties
  • The YHPT wholesale business in the UK is sold to Yokohama Rubber Company

2007

  • Tiger Automotive Limited begins tyre exports into Africa
  • YSA acquires the exclusive distribution of the “Achillies” (Indonesia) passenger, 4x4 and LDV tyre brand and develops its own wheel range called “Turn 1”

2006

  • Tiger Wheels Limited unbundles and lists the Retail and Wholesale entities in a separate JSE listing under “Tiger Automotive Limited”
  • The manufacturing division remains with Tiger Wheels Limited
  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre launches its in-house tyre insurance program, X-Sure

2005

  • Tiger Wheels Limited acquires wheel factory in Kentucky USA, the Group now had 6 wheel factories and produced c8 million alloy wheels per annum
  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 43 stores

2003

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre Enfield, London (UK) store is sold

2002

  • Tiger Wheels Limited builds new wheel factory in Alabama USA

2001

  • YSA wholesale wheel and tyre distribution business is established in South Africa to distribute “TSW” and “ATS” alloy wheels and “Yokohama” (Japan), “Nankang” (China) and “Runway” (China) passenger, 4x4 and LDV tyres

2000

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 29 stores

1999

  • Tiger Wheels Limited builds new wheel factories in Babelegi and Poland and closes Elandsfontein and old Babelegi factories

1998

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre opens store in Enfield, London (UK)
  • Tiger Wheels Limited purchases 74 % of German alloy wheel company ATS, which includes two wheel factories in Germany.

1995

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 17 stores
  • Tiger Wheels USA business (TSW USA) is sold

1994

  • Tiger Wheels Limited opens second wheel factory in Elandsfontein

1991

  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre network is now 13 stores

1990

  • Tiger Wheels established a wholesale wheel distribution business (TSW USA) in the USA

1988

  • Tiger Wheels establishes a wholesale wheel and tyre distribution company in the UK (YHPT) and is appointed exclusive distributor of “Yokohama” passenger, 4x4 and light truck tyres for the UK

1987

  • Tiger Wheels Limited lists on the JSE

1986

  • Third Tiger Wheels store established in Durban.
  • Tiger Wheel & Tyre retail franchise network is established
  • Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban Tiger Wheels stores changes their names to Tiger Wheel & Tyre
  • Tiger Motorcyle products division is sold to McCarthy Holdings

1984

  • Second Tiger Wheels accessories store established in Cape Town
  • Tiger Yamaha retail motorcyle business is sold

1983

  • Tiger Wheels is appointed exclusive distributor of “Yokohama” passenger, 4x4 and LDV tyres (Japan) for South Africa and SADC

1979

  • Tiger Wheels relocates wheel production to Babelegi (Bophuthatswana)

1975

  • Tiger Yamaha retail motorcycle and Tiger motorcycle products division is established

1972

  • Tiger Wheels starts production of cast aluminum automotive wheels

1971

  • Tiger Speed Den store opens in Fordsburg specialising in retailing and wholesaling of automotive accessories

1967

  • Tiger Wheels opens its first retail auto accessory store in Vrededorp under the name Tiger Performance and Spares
